This picture is one of the improvs: a salad of shredded radicchio, sliced green apple, pomegranate seeds and pistachios. I sprinkled it with red wine vinegar and a little olive oil. Would be quite festive on a holiday table.
On Sunday, I:
- Made potato-leek soup for lunch
- Made polenta-cheese crackers from 101 Cookbooks
- Made David Lebovitz's Chez Panisse Gingersnaps
- Made sweet potato sausage soup a la Bon Appetit a la Smitten Kitchen
- Made King Ranch Chicken casserole from Homesick Texan
- Made a mini ice-cream cake (more to come)
- Made the butternut squash and chickpea salad from Orangette
Phew!

This is Ann who came to lunch. Let me say this: The potato leek soup was superb (potatoes, leaks, parsley all from the backyard garden.) The apple radiccio salad was formidable (apples, radiccio from small local growers) The crackers were a delight (must make same for my husband) and the ice cream cake was exactly what you would expect after the above. If at all possible, try to get invited to lunch here.
